Top 3 Reasons for New Home Construction

The decision to build a new home is significant in terms of time and money. Everyone chooses new  home construction for different reasons, but here are some of the most popular ones:
  • The house and everything inside it is brand new. Think of it like buying a car. You can go with a pre-owned model that works great and is ready to go right away, but you also leave yourself open to the possibility of necessary repairs sooner rather than later. If you choose a brand-new car, you know it has never been driven or poorly maintained. This means the chances of anything breaking anytime soon are slim to none.
  • As a custom home builder, it’s our job to build you a new home that meets your exact specifications. When you work with a realtor to purchase an existing home, you inevitably have to compromise on features and amenities because the house was built to meet the original owner’s preferences, not yours. Do you want a spacious entryway with plenty of storage to keep coats and shoes out of sight? No problem. Would you like an en suite bathroom for every bedroom? You got it. You see where we’re going here. You will love every aspect of your custom home because you will help design it.
  • When your new home is complete, it is truly move-in ready. Many homes on the market claim to be move-in ready, and technically, many are. However, if you want to change any details like countertops or paint colors, these are things you’ll need to do prior to moving in or tackle while trying to acclimate to your new residence.

New Home Construction Considerations

Being part of the residential construction industry has given us an up-close look at new home construction, including the good, the bad, and the ugly. We want your custom home experience to be amazing, so we’ve made a list of some essential things to consider:

  1. The size and location of your lot - A newly married couple may not need ample yard space or schools and parks that are conveniently accessible. Should you decide to add to your family in the future, you’ll want the option for space for your kids (and the dog they’ll convince you to get) to run and play.
  2. Ceiling height - Many homes on the market will highlight having vaulted or high ceilings in the listing because it’s a big draw for buyers. If you want your newly built home to have 12-foot ceilings, ask!
  3. Outlets and placement - The number of outlets in your house and their location may seem inconsequential, but trust us, it’s important. Homes that have expansive, open layouts will benefit from floor outlets. This will eliminate the cluttered look of cords winding around furniture and lessen the trip hazard. It’s generally better to have an extra outlet you’re not using than need an outlet that doesn’t exist.
  4. Storage space - Can you ever have too much storage space? We don’t think so. Take stock of every area in your current home where you wish you had more storage, and keep a list. We suggest that you decide how much storage space you want and then double it. Consider using drawers instead of the usual double-door cabinet in bathrooms. Drawers are much more versatile when it’s time to organize.
